Why this Democratic Party is Hiding their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: An Analysis.

The action by the DNC to block the publication regarding its own post-election analysis concerning the 2024 election appears shocking but entirely predictable. Averse to unpleasant candor, the party's leadership apparatus operates more like a PR firm rather than an electoral entity committed to building local power for winning elections.

A Culture Resistant to Internal Critique

Hesitant to break with the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the committee has stayed under the Biden-Harris shadow all through 2025. Publishing the findings would have indicated that the leadership are interested to encourage open debate regarding the errors that paved the way for the former president to win re-election. Yet, the DNC is proceeding as if there are no lessons to be learned from the electoral catastrophe from the last cycle.

Our guiding principle: does this help us win? Should the answer be negative, it’s a distraction from our fundamental goal," a rationale that has been offered to justify concealing the report.

Key Issues an Autopsy Could Have Examined

An autopsy report of substance would not dodge certain uncomfortable matters. Among them are:

  • Electoral Disengagement: Losing of millions of voters that backed the party's candidate during the previous election was decisive during the tight recent race.
  • A Insistence to Run: The stubborn insistence of the incumbent to run again, and an extremely delayed exit, is viewed as denying the party's base of a genuine choice.
  • Abandoning the Working-Class Base: While facing rising costs, the electoral effort is criticized for ceding to corporate donors' interests without successfully attempting to address the role of corporate greed.
  • The Foreign Policy Effect: An unwillingness to reconsider a stance regarding the situation in Gaza allegedly caused losing many voters, notably among young people, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Losing Young Voter Backing: Extensive evidence demonstrates a significant decline of Democratic support among young voters.

A Record Avoiding Accountability

This refusal is consistent with a pattern of evading uncomfortable facts. This mirrors a situation where the vast majority of elected Democrat in Washington acquiesced to a sitting president's decision for running for re-election until a disastrous public debate performance compelled a reversal.

Concurrently, a significant majority of Democratic voters had been continually telling researchers that they did not want the incumbent to be the nominee.

Campaign Spending Concerns

A substantive autopsy would also probe issues about where money went, such as what sums went to insider consultants and media firms during an electoral effort that burned through a colossal war chest during the general election.

A Larger Problem

At its core, the suppression surrounding this report highlights a deference to the existing power structure that oversaw an unsuccessful electoral effort. The implication for ordinary supporters – which includes countless small donors – appears to be that they cannot be trusted to understand what the leadership have learned based on a report based on extensive interviews.

A political entity incapable to honestly assess its mistakes finds it difficult to break free from the rut that ended up being so beneficial to the winning candidate.
