Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
